The Honourable David C. Onley is pleased to announce the award of the Lieutenant Governor’s Medal of Distinction in Public Administration, Ontario’s highest honour for public service, to Gwen Boniface, retired Commissioner of the Ontario Provincial Police.

This prestigious Medal is awarded annually to an individual who has shown distinguished leadership in public administration, or who, by writings and other endeavours, has made a significant contribution in the field of public administration in Ontario. The selection criteria for the Medal of Distinction includes leadership, innovation and creativity, accomplishment and impact, dedication and sustained effort, contribution to the profession and the community.  Gwen Boniface has demonstrated excellence in all of these areas.

On March 3, 2008, the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario, the Honourable David C. Onley, presented the 2007 Lieutenant Governor’s Medal of Distinction in Public Administration to Gwen M. Boniface.   The ceremony and reception, attended by over 100 guests  representing family, friends, and colleagues from across the country, was held in the Lieutenant Governor’s Suite at Queen’s Park in Toronto.  In addition, there were  members from the Toronto, Hamilton and National Capital Regional Groups, the Past President of IPAC, Carol Layton and Gabriel Sekaly, CEO of IPAC.
