The Honourable James K. Bartleman and the Hamilton, National Capital and Toronto Regional Groups of the Institute of Public Administration of Canada (IPAC) are pleased to announce that Robert Gillett, President and CEO of Algonquin College, Ottawa is the 2004 recipient of the Lieutenant Governor’s Medal of Distinction in Public Administration.
Robert (Bob) Gillett has been actively engaged in promoting education, from his first teaching post with the Ottawa Board of Education in 1969 to his final position as Director of Education from 1988 to 1995. At that point, he left the Board of Education to take on his current position in the education sector as President and CEO of Algonquin College. Bob holds many leadership positions in the community including involvement with the United Way in Ottawa, the Community Foundation of Ottawa, host of an annual charity golf tournament to raise funds for Algonquin College bursaries, and an annual dinner and auction to raise money for child abuse prevention programs developed by the Children’s Aid Society.
